Describe how your Company Initiative Career Business is turning Africa problems into solutions in your community e.g. technology partnerships reach coverage:

Mwayi Mpinganjira joined The Sparkle Foundation in 2016 and has made a tremendous impact on the work we do ever since. Mwayi was recently promoted to Country Director and overseas all staff and work The Sparkle Foundation does in Zomba, Malawi. Through our four thematic areas (education, nutrition, health and community), Mwayi has been able to turn problems into solutions in many different areas, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where our UK team have only been able to communicate with Malawi online. An example of this was our youth mask initiative in July 2020, where we taught our youth group how to sew masks to protect against the spread of the virus. The masks were given out to members of community who couldn’t afford to purchase one, and sold in the local market to allow us to make more masks. Mwayi has overseen all of our projects with great leadership skills and creativity, she is a great leader for our team.

 

How does the Company Initiative/Career/Business improve people s life, impact, affordability and reliability?

The Sparkle Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Zomba, which works with vulnerable children, adults and the surrounding communities to create a self-sufficient lifestyle in the future. We work in multiple areas, working to make sure no child goes without education, food or medical care as well as the surrounding community; we truly believe it takes a village to raise a child. Our thematic areas, education, nutrition, health and community, are unable to run smoothly without a country director like Mwayi.

 

How can this service product or solution be expanded to new markets or areas in Africa?

The Sparkle Foundation Malawi is a replicable format which we plan to create in another area of Malawi as well as branching to other countries in Africa. Our team are currently working with multiple other organisations to help make the Sparkle format into a franchise. With Mwayi’s extensive knowledge and experience in handling leadership situations, we have no doubt that she could manage multiple sites across Malawi in the future.
